Green Meadow Primary school has 420 pupils aged from 4-11 years across the school.  They are arranged in fourteen classes, six infant and eight junior classes with an average class size of 30 pupils.  We have a number of supernumerary teachers who facilitate PPA, in class support and the varied leadership time required as necessary. We have teaching assistants and a pastoral team who support learning and behaviour. We also benefit from two General Schools Assistants who support staff in displays, photocopying and laminating etc. At the moment Green Meadow is a Standalone Academy.  The Governors are exploring further opportunities for the school to work in partnership with other schools.

The school occupies a large pleasant site on Bournville Village Trust land.  We also have the added benefit of our own playing fields at the rear of the Infant playground on which a trim track, climbing frame and quiet area have been built.  The building dates from 1958 and the classrooms are of an appropriate size.  Over the years the Governors have allocated monies from available funds to ensure that the facilities available to teachers and pupils are of the highest standard.  Majority of classrooms have interactive touchscreens. The ICT suite has 30 PCs available for timetabled sessions and the school benefits from wireless internet access, Ipads and laptops for pupil use in each classroom.  All teachers benefit within the technology field via the support of our ICT Technician and the provision of a personal laptop and networked planning.

Pupil behaviour and attitude to learning is good.  Our positive behaviour plan impacts positively on the good choices that pupils make.

We continue to develop the curriculum and assessment without levels in order to get the best outcomes for the pupils.

Our staff are an able group of Teachers/ TAs / Support Staff who are committed to providing pupils with the education that they deserve and which their parents expect.  The expectation within the school is that we all work effectively for the benefit of our pupils.  We encourage an open, atmosphere in which we can learn from each other and are confident in acknowledging the need for professional support.

Resources are available in all curriculum areas but we are not complacent about the need to develop these further.  A percentage of each year’s budget is used to enhance all our curriculum department accounts.  This allocation reflects the Governors intent upon providing teachers with appropriate resources to do their jobs effectively. All Infant classes have access to a covered outdoor classroom area and all pupils participate in Outdoor Learning provision.  This is a really exciting opportunity for all of us who want to provide excellence for our children and to further their own development.

There is parental involvement in school with classroom help and also a “Friends Association” which benefits the school greatly.  The Governing Body seeks to support the work of the school and links with the wider community are being extended.
