St. Mary’s Primary School (Polbeth) is a denominational school serving the communities of Polbeth and West Calder. There is also a nursery class attached which is housed in a separate building within the school’s extensive grounds.

The school roll this session is 155 with 40/20 pupils in nursery. The school is staffed by a Head Teacher, 2 Principal Teachers, 11 Class Teachers (including nursery), 6 Nursery Nurses, a PE Specialist, a Music Specialist, an Instructor of Brass, 4 Pupil Support Workers and a full-time Administration Assistant. The school has an autism spectrum disorder resource which has provision for 21 pupils. The school currently sits in decile 4 of the Scottish Index for Multiple Deprivation. St. Mary’s is an integral part of the local community, enjoying strong links with a number of local organisations as well as Our Lady and St. Bridget’s Parish and St. Kentigern’s Academy and cluster schools.

  • To raise attainment by continuing to develop the totality of the curriculum, providing broader experiences for all learners
