Job overview

Beckley Church of England Primary School is part of the River Learning Trust and is a thriving village school just outside Oxford, with a vision of excellence in all that we do.  We are looking for an inspiring and enthusiastic class teacher to join our team in April 2022, for one to three days per week.  This role may be fixed in one class, or may be working across two classes, depending on the candidate's strengths and availability.  This will be a temporary position (until the end of the academic year) in the first instance, but may lead to permanent and/or full-time opportunities thereafter.

The ideal candidate will hold real passion for maximising the life chances of all children and will be motivated in their own development too; we place great importance on continuous professional development and inspiring everybody within our community to be ambitious in their learning.

In return, we can offer a nurturing, friendly and happy school where we take care of each other.  We have polite, well-behaved pupils who love learning and have fun along the way.  Our location in the Oxfordshire countryside is breathtaking and offers many outdoor opportunities.

The school received a GOOD report from Ofsted in 2018 where comments included:

"Pupils are nurtured and cared for well."

"Across your school there is an industrious yet joyful atmosphere."

"Broadly speaking, teaching across the school is strong, and pupils know what they need to do to succeed in the tasks teachers set."

"[Teachers] ask pupils carefully crafted questions and use these to decide who needs extra help."

"Safeguarding is a real strength."

Visits to the school are encouraged to see our fantastic location.  Telephone the school office on 01865 351416 or email headteacher@beckleyschool.org for more information or to arrange an appointment to visit.

The River Learning Trust and Beckley School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism.  All staff must ensure that the highest priority is given to following the guidance and regulations to safeguard children and young people.  The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.  Employment will also be conditional on the receipt of at least two acceptable references (one from current/latest employer) and evidence of the formal qualifications required for the role.  The River Learning Trust is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from a range of backgrounds to represent diversity in line with our schools’ community.  It is an offence to apply for certain roles within schools if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.  You should contact the school if you are unsure if this role includes regulated activity relevant to children.

About Beckley Church of England Primary School

Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to Beckley Church of England Primary School!

Beckley is a brilliant place to learn.  We are nestled in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, with spectacular views across Otmoor.  Our school is made up of learners who are enthusiastic, engaged and polite from Beckley itself, the villages of Forest Hill, Elsfield, Stanton St. John, Horton-cum-Studley, as well as surrounding areas and Oxford city.

At Beckley, we truly believe that high expectations for every single learner is at the root of an outstanding primary education.  There is no barrier too great to stop us getting the absolute best out of everybody here, and our dedicated team of teachers and support colleagues go above and beyond to provide a curriculum that is broad and enriching.  We believe that everybody should leave school with memories that last a lifetime!

We have productive and exciting links with the wider community, including dedicated governors, other schools in the River Learning Trust, loyal parents, and the Church.  The Christian value of kindness (Ephesians 4:32) underpins everything we do at Beckley, and visitors often comment on the compassion and warmth shown by everybody at our school.

We hope our website gives you an insight into what a special place Beckley is, but we would really like to welcome you in person.  Please call or drop by to arrange a visit and I would be happy to show you around our stunning grounds and introduce you to our brilliant learners and colleagues.

This is our school
Let peace dwell here
Let the room be full of contentment
Let love be here
Love of one another
Love of mankind
And love of God
Let us remember
That as many hands build a house
So many hearts make a school
