About Gorsey Bank Primary School

At Gorsey Bank we believe that whatever children’s interests, passions or talents, instilling a love of learning is the most important thing we can do for them. Developing the right knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable our pupils to become motivated, passionate and resilient learners is central to the Gorsey Bank philosophy and is at the heart of everything we do.

Judged Outstanding by Ofsted in May 2023 and regularly registering some of the top results in the country, places at our school are always in high demand and we thrive on a culture of high expectations both for pupils and staff. We currently have 406 pupils on roll.

Gorsey Bank converted to academy status and became a proud member of the Laurus Trust in October 2016. We echo the Trust’s Vision and continue to strive “for everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, to be inspired, to thrive in all environments, to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and to work hard to achieve them.”

Our mission is to prepare our children to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the outside world and we do this through a broad, balanced and memorable school curriculum.

Professional Development

We attach huge importance to continued Professional Learning and recognise that, in the exciting and ever-changing environment in which we work, we are all learners and are constantly looking for ways to improve our practice.

Our comprehensive programme of in-house Professional Learning comprises weekly pedagogy-based sessions, Further Professional Learning sessions, and opportunities to coach and mentor and to engage in research.

Being part of a Multi Academy Trust enables our staff to work across schools and phases. Not only does this broaden their experience, it opens up a wider range of leadership opportunities.

As a Trust we actively develop our teachers through nationally accredited programmes such as the NPQ's and many of our staff have completed courses at Masters level. Members of our Leadership Team regularly engage in school-to-school support and deliver training for Early Career Teachers.

About the Laurus Trust

The Laurus Trust is a highly successful and growing multi-academy trust in the North West of England, with Cheadle Hulme High School (CHHS), the founder school, at its centre. Our vision is for everyone regardless of background or circumstance to be inspired, to thrive in all environments, to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and to work hard to achieve them.

All our Laurus Schools are hugely oversubscribed and have a reputation, both locally and further afield, for outstanding teaching and learning through the relentless pursuit of excellence and the determination to ensure that every child succeeds. It’s important to us as an employer that our staff feel that we care about them at work. 97% agree that we do!

At the Laurus Trust, it is not just about what we do but also about how we do it. We are seeking individuals who are able to demonstrate our core behaviours which set out the expectations we have of our staff.

As a Disability Confident Committed Employer, we strongly encourage applications from all persons with a known disability, and we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants, that meet the minimum criteria for a role, will be offered an interview and given the opportunity to demonstrate their skills, talents and abilities.

The Laurus Trust and its affiliated schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. As such, all posts are subject to a safer recruitment process, including online checks and the disclosure of criminal records.
