Class Teacher required from

September 2018

Monks Orchard Primary School is a thriving 2 to 3 form school in the North-East of the London Borough of Croydon. We believe that everything starts with our children and our community and are looking to recruit fantastic teachers who believe the same. You will be flexible, willing to work across the entire primary age range and to contribute to school life, beyond the classroom.

We know our children as individuals: as young people with passions, dreams, ambitions, skills and difficulties - not just as statistics. No generic, 'one size fits all,' scheme, programme or download from the internet can meet the needs of all of our children, so we plan and deliver our own exciting, creative activities that motivate, challenge and drive them to achieve excellence.

You will join a welcoming, dedicated and supportive team, who all work incredibly hard. Everyone has a role to play in the development of our school and you will be expected to do the same.

Now is a particularly exciting time for us, as we are about to join a small, local multi-academy trust, which shares our values and vision for our children. Through the sharing and developing of good practice across the trust there are tremendous opportunities for your professional development and for you to make a real contribution to the future of all the schools in the trust.

The only way to find out what it is really like at Monks Orchard is to visit us, so we encourage everyone interested in working with us to do so. We have set aside the morning of Saturday 10 March for you to see the school and meet our senior team. Give us a call on 020 8654 2570 to let us know when you are able to come, or to arrange another time to visit. We know that once you see us at work you will want to be part of our team.

If you are passionate about working with children and want to make a real difference, then there is a place for you at Monks Orchard Primary School.

Monks Orchard Primary and Nursery School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are committed to safer recruitment and the successful candidate will need to undertake enhanced DBS and Prohibition Order checks before starting.

About Monks Orchard Primary School

We offer a warm welcome to you, and thank you for taking an interest in Monks Orchard Primary School.

Our school was built in 1936, as a single-form of entry, local authority school. We are now a thriving school with over 200 pupils, aged between 3 and 11 years. In 2018 we joined Fairchildes Academy Community Trust (FACT), a small, locally run multi-academy trust with a clear focus on working together to put children and families first.

We are extremely lucky to have a large site with substantial green spaces and a large forest/nature area. This allows ample space for games, and learning in the outdoors environment is a feature of all year groups’ learning.

At Monks Orchard, staff work together, sharing best practice in order to create a happy school, where the working atmosphere is informal but focussed. We place great emphasis on teamwork and developing together, and provide a wide range of opportunities for teachers to work together and with others both in school and across the trust. We recognise that this benefits everybody in the school community.

Our aim is to make children’s time at school as successful and enjoyable as possible. We encourage a close working relationship between home and school to support this aim and welcome parents’ active interest in both their child’s development and the general life of the school.
