Job overview

Probationer teachers pending full registration in August are eligible to apply for this post.

Longniddry Primary School is a non denominational, co-educational school situated on the coastline of East Lothian.

The school serves the village of Longniddry and the surrounding area, originally farmlands. The school was built in 1931. It is an attractive building set in peaceful, rural surroundings.

An extensive building programme in the 1970s led to a two storey semi open plan extension being added in 1978.   Recent improvements have been made, including an extension to the nursery and upgrading of other school facilities.

For the past few years the average has been 8 classes plus a nursery class. The school caters for children from 3 to 12 years. There are currently 205 children in P1 to P7 and 60 children in the nursery. Almost all our children experience their pre school year in our nursery class. The catchment secondary school is Preston Lodge High School and most of our children transfer there. The school is also part of the Prestonpans Cluster which consists of 4 other primary schools and 1 secondary school.  The cluster works well and is very supportive.

The school staffing consists of a Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher with 0.6 class commitment, a Principal Teacher with 0.9 class commitment, 7 Class Teachers and Visiting Specialist Teachers for Music and PE.

At present there is an active Parent Council.

The school has enthusiastic children, supportive parents, committed support staff and dedicated teachers - a fantastic combination.
