Job overview

Longdon Park School opened in June 2015. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7-18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties, challenging behaviour primarily with a diagnosis of ASD. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment where our young people learn to accept responsibility for their actions, make positive decisions and display pro-social behaviour. We are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.

We require an experienced and qualified Key Stage 3/4 teacher who has the ability to make a significant contribution to our highly effective team.  Any experience at working at early Key Stage 2 would be an advantage but not essential.  The successful candidate will be an innovative, reflective practitioner who can demonstrate the willingness to adapt and learn.  We are looking for an individual with high expectations and standards who can offer excellent behavioural management skills.  An additional strength would be a creative, engaging approach to curriculum design and planning both within the classroom and also in the wider outdoor learning environment.  A specialism in ICT would be advantageous, however, other subject specialisms will be considered.  NQTs will be considered.

The ability to contribute to the development of our ‘Outstanding’ school is essential and we believe that energy, passion and a commitment to high standards are key characteristics required.  We are looking for a special individual who is able to help inspire and re-engage the young people that we serve.  This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills and experience in a challenging, motivating and highly rewarding environment.

Applications are invited from colleagues offering SEN experience, from mainstream schools and other educational settings.

Nyree Parker,  Head of School, would welcome an informal discussion by telephone or in person. Tel: 01283-733195.

This position is due to commence September 2018 (subject to approved reference/DBS checks).  Please apply online by clicking the 'apply now' button below.

Closing Date: 29th June 2018.

Longdon Park School is committed to the safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be subject to fully Enhanced DBS check.
