Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 32 primary schools (19 of which have nurseries) and 2 stand alone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 20 children to our largest secondary with over 1200 pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. We are fortunate to have a growing number of new build schools, with 15 of our primary schools and 1 secondary having been built within the last 10 years and several new builds planned.
Stobhill Primary School is a non denominational, co-educational school situated within the Gorebridge area of Midlothian.
The new school building opened in April 2008 and provides fantastic resources both within and outwith the building. There are 8 classroom bases in two units of four, all with sliding doors which open onto a bright shared atrium area. Other facilities include a gym/assembly area, an expressive arts room, library, additional support needs base, and a number of small tutorial rooms.
There is a Nursery Class with its own kitchen area and fantastic outdoor learning space.
The kitchen serves a dining area with the opportunity for outdoor eating when the weather is right.
We aim to provide a warm and caring learning environment where pupils, parents and members of the community feel welcome and where a positive partnership between home and school is encouraged. We encourage parents to contact school if they have any concerns so that we can work together to resolve any issues without delay.
The school currently has eight classes and a roll of 183 pupils aged 4½ to 11½ and a morning and afternoon nursery class with 30 pupils aged 3-5 in each.
There is also a Community Room and a community facility which is used by Arniston Playgroup.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic professionals who have the vision and energy to sustain and promote the current standards of achievement and ensure the continued development and progress of the school.
