Class Teacher

Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 32 primary schools (19 of which have nurseries) and 2 stand alone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 20 children to our largest secondary with over 1200 pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. We are fortunate to have a growing number of new build schools, with 15 of our primary schools and 1 secondary having been built within the last 10 years and several new builds planned.

Danderhall Primary School has been in existence in its present building since 1959, the school having originally been situated in Newton.

The school has a roll of 254 pupils and 10 full time members of teaching staff, complemented by visiting specialist staff for PE and Music. We also have a 30/30 place Nursery Class in school with 1 teacher and 3 Child Care Development Workers. Learners and teachers are also supported by one part time Teacher(SfL) and a team of Learning Assistants.
Our school has a busy, vibrant atmosphere where we work together with partners to offer wide opportunities through which our learners can flourish.
