Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an outstanding classroom practitioner looking for an exciting role in a special school for pupils with autism.

We are seeking to appoint a class teacher who is committed to providing a caring, inclusive learning experience for all pupils.

About You

What we are really looking for is someone passionate about working with pupils with autism and who will contribute fully to our Academy community, ethos and values.

To be successful, you will need to be:

  • experienced with ASD and SEMH, or enthusiastic about gaining experience in these areas
  • familiar with differentiating for a range of learning needs, including person-centred approaches
  • creative, resilient, enthusiastic and dedicated to ensuring that pupils’ individual provision in EHCPs is fully implemented to ensure their needs are met
  • able to contribute to our culture of learning to enable pupils to achieve their aspirations and prepare them well for their next steps in education and adulthood
  • experienced in working with young people with autism (required)

This role is suitable for both an experienced professional with a passion for inclusion who wishes to progress their career in a specialist SEND setting or an early careers teacher who is looking to gain experience and develop within this setting.

About Us

We opened in 2012 as a new, purpose-built provision within Greenwood Academies Trust. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care plan with autism as their main presenting need. Our curriculum is broad and relevant, delivered through termly themed imaginative learning projects, which support appropriate pre-formal, semi-formal and formal learning pathways towards independent learning. In Key Stage 4, a range of accreditation is offered from entry level to GCSE to prepare pupils for their next stage of education.

We can offer you:

  • amazing pupils who are a joy to teach: every day is different!
  • the opportunity to teach in a dynamic, thriving and diverse school community and work in collaboration with our partner organisations, including the Autism Education Trust and Skills Builder Partnership towards a common mission, joined by shared values, strategy and outcomes
  • a shared purpose: working in partnership with staff teams, therapists, families and stakeholders to continue raising standards and achieving our vision
  • dedicated planning, preparation and assessment time

In Return

As part of the Greenwood Academies Trust, we look to support staff in their careers and offer first-class CPD, training through the Learning Alliance and a generous pension scheme.

We believe in looking after the people who make a huge difference to our children, their families and the communities we serve. That’s why we give everyone who joins a Perkbox account – with 24/7 access to perks and discounts, plus curated wellbeing tools to look after your physical and mental health. It’s part of our commitment to look after you.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • shopping discounts from the biggest brands, all year round
  • saving money on everything from the supermarket shop to summer holidays
  • a free Employee Assistance Programme from Health Assured
