Class Teacher (Severe & Complex Needs)

Ogilvie School Campus is a school for children with a range of additional support needs arising from complex difficulties, sensory impairments, physical disabilities and Autism spectrum disorder. The school covers children from across West Lothian.

The school and nursery is currently staffed by a Head Teacher, 1 Principal Teacher, 9 teaching staff, 27 Pupil Support Workers and 2 Office staff. The school also has a fulltime Music /Physical activity Specialist.

The school roll is currently 71 children. Our active Parent Council meets once per term and a new chairperson and office bearers were elected this term. To enable as many parents as possible to attend our Parent Council meetings we hold one during the day and one at night.

We also run a parent drop in session on a fortnightly basis; this is organised by the parents and supported by the school to provide any specific training support if requested. We are about to run PEEP for parents and Our Educational Psychologist are currently running an Adapted PPP group to support parents.

We are very well supported by a team of health professionals who regularly meet with staff, children and parents. School nurse (2 days a week), Community paediatrician, Speech and language therapists, Physiotherapist, Occupational therapist and Children and Mental health team.

There is a very positive ethos across the school, staff, parents and partners work very well together to create a whole community to provide the best possible care for our children.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
