Job overview

Brentwood School is an outstanding special school which specialises in the education of students with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and autism. Our school benefits from fabulous facilities and includes a post 19 college. Student numbers are set to increase over the coming years.

At our last inspection (June 2019) Ofsted said:

• This is an exceptional school where pupils and students are thriving. Independence and skills for life underpin every aspect of the school. Pupils love their school, and love the wide range of experiences they have and are happy, motivated learners.

• This is an inclusive school where every member is respected and valued. Pupils, staff and parents talk about being part of the Brentwood School family. Older pupils buddy up with younger pupils. Most-able pupils help the less able. Staff work together to improve their practice. There is a strong culture of equality  and support where everyone works together as a team to be the best they can be.

We are seeking a class teacher to teach students who have severe, profound or complex learning difficulties and autism.

We are particularly interested in teachers who have experience of working with students with autism and/or severe learning difficulties.

We will consider applications from experienced teachers and NQTs and offer a comprehensive support programme for the ECF.

Staff wellbeing is a priority at Brentwood and we provide a comprehensive induction programme.

Please apply using the school application form which is available on the school website.

About Brentwood High School and Community College

Brentwood School is a Secondary School and College located in Trafford, Greater Manchester. The school provides places to around 100 pupils aged 11-18 in a co-educational setting, 30 of whom reside in the school sixth form, and all of whom have a Statement of Special Educational Need. The school caters for a wide range of learning difficulties and challenging behaviours, and offers provision for further education for some students aged 19-24 in the College. At Brentwood we acknowledge that every student has different strengths and weaknesses, interests and experiences and therefore the curriculum is adapted and differentiated to meet individual needs and circumstances. The curriculum is designed to be broad, balanced and relevant and includes the teaching of functional skills in every subject area.  Our aim is to equip each student with the essential skills that they will need for the future whilst ensuring their well-being.
