Windyknowe Primary School is a non-denominational school serving the community of Bathgate, West Lothian. Our catchment area is wide spread and there are a number of children who are transported to school. The school was built in 1963 and currently accommodates a nursery class (60 – am and 50 – pm) and 15 primary classes.  Our current primary school roll is 402 with 53 children attending our morning nursery session and 34 in the afternoon session. Our decile band is 8.

The school’s leadership team for session 2018 - 19 consists of: Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher, Chartered Teacher and 2 Principal Teachers.

We have been effective in establishing a shared vision (Ready, Responsible, Respectful) and values across the school community. The leadership team has continued to work closely with all staff, pupils and parents to implement the improvement priorities identified in the school’s 2018-2019 School Improvement Plan. In addition, the school has furthered its work within the local community, enhanced opportunities provided for children out with school hours and engaged with our cluster schools to improve the work of the school. Our link secondary school is Armadale Academy, although some of our P7 pupils choose to move on to Bathgate Academy. We have strong links with both.

We provide a progressive, relevant, challenging and enjoyable curriculum with opportunities for personalisation and choice. We strive to ensure that our pupils have the highest quality learning experiences. We aim to provide learning opportunities that result in a creative and enterprising attitude in our pupils, to develop a sense of pride and ambition to contribute positively to the local, national and international community.

As Support for Learning teacher, you would work in partnership with all stakeholders within Windyknowe Primary School to ensure a high quality pupil centred experience that reflects curricular design principles and entitlements with the ultimate aim of maximised achievement and attainment for all. 

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule.  If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
