Class Teacher

St. Mary’s R.C. Primary School is a large denominational school serving the community of Bathgate. The school roll is currently 440 arranged in 15 classes from P1-P7. In addition to this there is a nurture class which supports P1-3 children, in particular. There is a non-teaching Head Teacher and Depute Head Teacher, 2 Principal Teachers, 15 Class Teachers and 1 full time Support for Learning Coordinator. Next session the school will be arranged in 16 classes due to the increasing roll. RCCT is delivered using part time staff who are developing and teaching within the areas of Science and Technology, Art and Design and Drama. There are currently 11 Pupil Support Workers deployed at various stages across the school to support children with identified learning needs and to support whole school working. There is a full time Administrative Assistant and 2 part time Clerical Assistants. The school works in partnership with St. Kentigern’s Academy and cluster primary schools as well as the Parish, Parent Council, PTA and wider parent forum. St. Mary’s has a very good reputation within the local community.

The successful candidate will join a highly committed leadership team and wider community who work together to raise attainment and further develop our curriculum and approaches to effective learning, teaching and assessment. S/he will have opportunities to be creative and imaginative in their approach to leadership and management. S/he will work collaboratively as part of the Senior Leadership Team and all stakeholders to develop, implement, monitor and review effective teaching and learning policies, procedures and practice within the school in a climate which promotes equity and excellence in learning and teaching.
