Class Teacher

Broxburn Primary School and Nursery is a non-denominational school serving the community of Broxburn. It is part of the Broxburn Academy Cluster. The school roll is 476 with pupils being organised into fifteen classes (P1-7) and a 50/60 nursery.

The senior leadership team comprises the Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher and two Principal Teachers. In addition to the class STEM, music and PE. The school office is staffed by an administrative assistant and a clerical assistant.

You would work in partnership with all stakeholders within Broxburn Primary to ensure a high quality learner experience that reflects curricular design principles and student entitlements. Our values develop the four capacities within Curriculum for Excellence and support every learner in their wellbeing and development. Our core values are: Respect, Achievement, Integrity and Fairness. All pupils have access to a very successful Breakfast Club which is well attended. A variety of sports clubs are available out-with the school day throughout the year. We strive to do all we can to ensure that our children receive an excellent education. We encourage children to find pleasure in learning and playing together, to understand, respect and value the different cultures and backgrounds that enrich our school and its community. We are a Rights Respecting School at Level 1 and are working towards achieving our Level 2 accreditation.

Broxburn Primary School is well supported by the parent council and the wider parent forum. The parent council works in close partnership with the school and provides support in identifying areas for improvement. There are supportive partnerships with local community groups.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule.  If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
