Class Teacher

Letham Primary School and Nursery class is a non-denominational school catering for Nursery to P7, situated in the Craigshill area of Livingston and is part of the Inveralmond Learning Community. The school works hard to provide an inclusive and nurturing environment for children and their families in an area of economic and social deprivation. The school is in SIMD decile band 1 and our free school meal entitlement is 36.97%

The school role is currently 199 pupils split into 8 classes. The school is currently staffed by a Head teacher, Acting PT, 8 full time teachers, one part time teacher, Support for learning teacher, and a specialist brass teacher. The school is supported by a team of 7 core pupil support workers, 2 PEF funded pupil support workers (targeted interventions), one Family Support worker and one PEF funded fulltime librarian and two members of clerical and admin staff. A nurture class is staffed by a full time Pupil Support Worker to support a range of social, emotional and educational needs of our learners. We also have a small group setting provision which is run by our Support for Learning teacher and two PSWs

The school building is spacious and provides a bright and attractive working environment for pupils and staff and includes The Community wing provides a range of training opportunities for parents and a well-established playgroup. Our parents are very supportive of the school and through Chatter Matters and other regular opportunities parents engage in the wider life of the school and have provided effective feedback to move our school forward. Our free breakfast club is well attended with around 130 children attending daily. There is a good uptake of Early Learning and Childcare in the nursery. The school has excellent relationships with the Cluster Schools, a wide range of partners and our local community.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule.  If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
