Class Teacher

Class Teacher, Letham Primary School, 35 hours per week, Fixed term until 24th April 2022, Closing date 28th February 2021

A vacancy has arisen for teacher to join our well-established team within Letham Primary School.

Letham Primary School and Nursery class is a non-denominational school catering for Nursery to P7, situated in the Craigshill area of Livingston and is part of the Inveralmond Learning Community. The school works hard to provide an inclusive and nurturing environment for children and their families in an area of economic and social deprivation.

The school role is currently 197 pupils split into 8 classes. The school is currently staffed by a Head teacher, PT, 8 full time teachers, one part time teacher, Support for learning teacher, and a specialist brass teacher. The school is supported by a team of 7 core pupil support workers, two PEF funded pupil support workers (targeted interventions), and two members of clerical and admin staff. A nurture class is staffed by a full time Pupil Support Worker to support a range of social, emotional and educational needs of our learners. 

Our parents are very supportive of the school and through regular opportunities parents engage in the wider life of the school and have provided effective feedback to move our school forward. Our free breakfast club is well attended.

This temporary full time teaching post will cover a maternity leave. The teacher role will have a clear focus on leading and delivering high quality learning experiences for all of our learners within Letham Primary School. The successful candidate will follow West Lothian Council policies.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
