Class Teacher

Howden St. Andrew’s Primary school is a denominational school which was established in February 1970 and provides for nursery children 20/20 and stages P1-P7 with a current roll of 349.

Its catchment area caters for children living north of the River Almond, east of the A899 to Pumpherston and west of the A899 to Livingston Village. It serves the Howden, Craigshill, Ladywell and Livingston Village areas of Livingston.

The school management team is made up of an Acting HT, DHT and PT. Nursery classes are supported by a Nursery Teacher and Nursery Nurse.

Distributed leadership is promoted across the whole staff. Staff demonstrate strong collegiality and teamwork which maintains the positive climate for learning in the school.

Nurture group approaches and strong partnership working supports developments in key areas of learning across the school and nursery classes to meet the needs of all pupils.

The school works closely with the Parent Council, Local Parish and Wider Community.

The school runs a very successful Breakfast Club and provides a variety of After School Clubs throughout the year.

• Raising attainment through effective self-evaluation and moderation.
• Raising attainment in literacy and numeracy ensuring excellence and equity for all learners.
