Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Class Teacher for our Year 5 and 6 pupils. This is a temporary post for the summer term of this year covering maternity leave.

Farrington Gurney Church of England Primary School is a village school which was judged as Good by Ofsted in May 2016. We are a small, friendly and supportive team committed to providing the very best possible education for all our children.

Due to the current postholder leaving to go on maternity leave we are looking for an excellent teacher to join our experienced team for the rest of this academic year.

The post is to teach a class of 24 pupils in Years 5 and 6. The successful candidate should be enthusiastic, confident and flexible. Experience of subject leadership would be valuable, as would experience of leading national curriculum tests, although not essential to the post. The post would also potentially involve taking the Year 6 children along with a teaching assistant on their annual Residential trip for four nights and helping to lead a summer production with the class.

As a school we have a commitment to extra-curricular activities and provide a broad and balanced curriculum.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable groups and expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. As part of this commitment anyone working in a post with children or vulnerable groups will be expected to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

Visits to the school are strongly encouraged; please telephone the school secretary Michelle Hazard on 01761 452419 to arrange a time.
