About the Role
- The Classroom Support Teacher will support the principal in leading and promoting the development of a whole school approach to supporting students with learning needs. They will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, support staff, parents/carers, allied health professionals and Catholic Education staff to develop and implement high quality and engaging teaching programs to ensure that students with diverse needs are able to access and participate in the curriculum.
Essential Criteria
- A commitment to Catholic education and the promotion of the mission of the Catholic Church.
- Appropriate primary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in inclusive education, teaching students with a disability and an understanding of the Disability Standards in Education.
- A passion for inclusive education and a willingness to be an advocate for students with a disability or diverse needs.
- Exemplary teaching skills and capabilities, well-developed self-awareness, capacity to work collegially with a range of people and the ability to reflect of their own performance and that of others.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the capacity to develop productive and caring relationships with students, parents/carers and staff where the focus is on the learning and well-being of the student.
- Demonstrated capacity and willingness to develop and celebrate students’ unique capabilities through participation in the broader life of the school.
