Job overview

The Hereford Church of England Academy is year 11-16 Secondary School located on the edge of the Hereford, close to the beautiful Herefordshire countryside and the Wye Valley AONB. The City of Hereford is growing with a new University, a rapidly developing enterprise zone, new retail and leisure destinations and a thriving independent food and retail sector.

The Hereford Church of England Academy is part of the Diocese of Hereford Multi Academy Trust, who are working well together to rapidly improve outcomes for students.

The school building is modern with first class facilities, extensive sports provision including a 3G pitch and a dedicated drama and arts studio.

The Academy family is committed to its core values of Aspiration, Care, Trust, Resilience, and Respect.  Our vision is to equip all our students to be well-rounded and caring citizens who will make a positive contribution to society. We do this by providing the best possible education and serving the whole community of all faiths and none.

The Academy’s most recent OFSTED inspection stated that the Academy is:

 ·        “The school is an attractive, calm and orderly place for pupils to study”

·        ” Pupils trust adults to deal with problems when they arise, including bullying.”

·        “Leaders have created an ethos of tolerance, respect and understanding throughout the school”

·        “Pupils, parents and staff say that pupils are safe and well cared for in the school. Inspectors agree.”

Classroom Teacher

We are looking to add capacity to our teaching provision by developing a teaching post that would provide a bridge between primary and secondary school, for students who find the transition difficult.

The successful candidate will be able to work as a classroom teacher, teaching a wide range of subjects to a reduced size class, whilst delivering pastoral support, to develop the skills and maturity that the students need to integrate fully into other classes.

The role would be ideal for a middle school teacher or primary school colleague who would wish to widen their experience by working within a secondary school environment whilst making use of their cross curricular teaching skills and pastoral systems.

Subject specialism is not important, but a flexible and enthusiastic attitude along with a desire to work as a team and improve student’s lives are.

Successful candidates will have high aspirations for the students in their care and a passion for improving young people’s life chances.

As well as excellent communication skills, you must have high expectations of staff and students. You will consistently model excellent practice and have student achievement and progress at the forefront of your practice.

If you can work effectively under pressure and want an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant school that makes a difference to young people lives– we want to hear from you.

The Trust and school are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, therefore all shortlisted applicants must be prepared to undergo a number of checks to confirm their suitability to work with children and young people, in accordance with the DfE’s “Keeping Children Safe in Education”. An enhanced DBS will be required for this role. The Trust welcomes applications from all sectors of the Community.

Please do not attach copies of CV's/qualification certificates.  Only the information detailed on the application form will be used as part of the short-listing process. Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.
