Position Title: Primary Classroom Teacher – St Matthew's Primary School, Cornubia
We are seeking a primary classroom teacher. To be successful in this role you will be able to meet the following criteria: appropriate qualifications and experience, effective communication skills, an ability to work in partnership with colleagues, students and parents/carers, an ability to attend to detail in innovative and creative practices, and a clear understanding of the new Australian Curriculum. Applicants are required to address these points in the "letter of application" section of the on-line application form.
As this position requires classroom teaching of Religious Education, applicants must be Catholic.

St Matthew's Cornubia is a Catholic, co-educational school serving prep to Year 6, located in Cornubia, Queensland, a suburb of Logan City, 30 kilometres south east of Brisbane. This primary school has a population of 554 students, supported by 37 teaching staff.
One of the largest Catholic Primary Schools in Queensland, St Matthew’s was established in the 1980s with just one building, no church and 57 students. In 1987 the school church was built and in 1990s the school became well established with several new buildings, a pre-school and a library.

Facilities
St Matthew’s offers a range of facilities to students including the new Mackillop Place; an educational facility with a performance space, music and art rooms. The school also has two computer labs, data projectors in each classroom and a bank of laptops for each grade. A new library has been built and is well resourced. The school has architect-designed playgrounds, two large ovals, basketball courts, netball courts as well as undercover courts all set within extensive well maintained school grounds.
Curriculum
The school aims to provide a “learner-centred curriculum" to cater for the unique developmental needs, interests, learning styles and preferences of children. St Matthew’s follows the Australian Curriculum and provides religious education to students. Specialist teachers are provided for physical education, music, Spanish, learning support, the library, curriculum development and information and communication technology.

St Matthew’s Catholic Primary School exists to promote "the development of the total person by integrating faith, love and life experiences. It emphasises the central place of Jesus Christ and builds a Christian atmosphere where gospel values are encouraged and upheld”.
