Job overview

20 hours per week (16:30 – 19:30 Monday – Friday) all year round plus an additional 5 hours per week worked at a domestic location associated with the School (precise hrs to be agreed but ideally between 9:00am – 4:00pm on Mondays and Fridays)

Do you have cleaning experience, ideally gained from working in a school or large site? If so, Hallfield School are looking for an experienced Cleaning Operative who can work flexibly with a focus on providing excellent customer service and a high quality cleaning service throughout the school.

Key Responsibilities of a Cleaning Operative include, but are not limited to:

o Under the direction of the Housekeeping Co-ordinator, to clean areas of the school to a high and consistent standard. This may involve mopping, hovering, scrubbing and other general cleaning.

o To assist with cleaning any sections of Hallfield School as and when required. 

o To take initiative to perform cleaning and tidying tasks that are not specifically contained within the rota but require attention as part of maintaining overall high standards.

o Work as part of a team and support other members of the cleaning team to meet standards and school objectives.

o Provide assistance with the cleanliness and hygiene within the School which may involve deep cleaning during holiday periods and the additional cleaning of toilets and coming into contact with bio hazards.

o To move furniture and other items of equipment as necessary to allow for the effective performance of cleaning duties.

The Person

The key skills, experience and qualities required to be a Cleaning Operative:

o Experience of current cleaning materials/ methods/appliances 

o An understanding of basic health and safety requirements

o Relevant experience delivering high standards of cleaning, ideally from the education or hospitality sector

o Be able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills

o A positive, supportive and flexible team member

o Willingness to work additional hours to support the team when required

Hallfield School is a flourishing co-educational Prep School, renowned for the quality of its extended curriculum and excellent academic reputation.
