We are looking for a clerk for the Trust and High School who will also provide advice as required on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.

The role currently involves clerking approximately 20 meetings per year: 5 Board meetings, 4 Audit Committees, 5 Local Governing Body meetings and 6 committee meetings (Resources and Quality of Education committees which take place on the same evenings, once each term).  The meeting programme for the 2021/22 Academic Year is included with this recruitment information. The governance professional is also responsible for maintaining and publishing relevant Registers of Interest and supporting the CEO in the skills audit, and appraisal of the Boards and Chairs. The Clerk also is also responsible for ensuring that the paper copies of all Board, LGB and committee papers are kept up to date and filed appropriately in the Trust offices. Meetings usually take place at Saracens High School in Corner Mead, Colindale, or when required, by Zoom. 

If the successful applicant is self-employed and meets the requirements of IR35, he or she will be paid as follows:

• £300 (plus VAT if chargeable) for Trust Board and LGB meetings (2 hour meetings)

• £200 (plus VAT if chargeable) for Audit Meetings (1 hour meetings)

• £300 (plus VAT if chargeable) for each pair of Outcomes and Resources meetings on the same evening (2 hour combined meetings)

• £300 for induction, training and other requirements of the role 

Alternatively, if the successful applicant does not meet the criteria of IR35 he or she will be employed under contract by the Trust at salary of £4,500 per annum, plus employer’s pension contribution, effective from 1st January 2022.
