Clerk to Governing Bodies

This is an exciting opportunity to join Westcountry Schools Trust, currently employing approximately 2000 staff and growing.  We are a dynamic organisation with our students and staff at our heart.  Built on an extensive track record of excellence, the Trust combines a range of secondary colleges, primary schools and business units based in a variety of sites across Devon and Cornwall.  We are also a stone’s throw from some of the best beaches and countryside in the country.

We are seeking to recruit either 2x Clerk to the Governing Bodies for 3x locations or 1x Clerk to the Governing Bodies covering all 3x locations.  The Trust is ideally looking for individual(s) with previous clerking or reasonable experience.  

The role of Clerk to the Governing body will be expected to:

Provide advice to the governing body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters. The new regulations require governing bodies to have regard to advice from the clerk in regards to exercising the governing body functions: 

• Provide effective administrative support to the governing body and its committees

• Ensure the governing body is properly constituted in line with Trust requirements

• Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements

We are offering the following job opportunities, which may be negotiable for the right candidate(s)

• 2 individuals to undertake 2x posts being; Clerk to the Local Governing Bodies for the Primaries or Clerk to the Local
       Governing Body for the Secondary; or 

• 1x post covering all 3 locations
