Here at St Paul’s we have a new school mission statement:

“United though Jesus in Faith, Loving and Learning”

This was developed in partnership with our school community, most importantly with input from the children who were keen to talk about what was at the heart of their school.  The children took pride in working on this and it is with pride that we will take this forward through a period of change, with a new Headteacher being welcomed into our school.
Our community unites to provide our children with a learning journey with Christ at its centre, using our talents and gifts to make their time at our school rewarding, happy and memorable.  Celebrations of our faith through prayer are at the centre of life at our school and parents are encouraged to join us to share this with their children.

We have a loving, committed and hard-working staff who strive to ensure each child is nurtured, supported and developed to fulfil their potential.

We are a Voluntary-Aided (VA) mixed Roman Catholic primary school located in Tilehurst, West Berkshire, within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth and the West Berkshire Local Authority.

St Paul’s is a caring and supportive community, having strong links with the local parish of St Joseph’s, Blessed Hugh Faringdon (Catholic secondary school) and also with other primary and secondary schools in close proximity. St Joseph’s Church is a short walk, as is Tilehurst Village, and the community feel of this location is treasured by those who live and work here.  The children regularly make the short walk to the church for Masses, liturgies or for a visit as part of the RE curriculum.

We are a one and a half form entry (45 children per academic year) school for children from Foundation Stage 2 to Year 6 (ages 4 to 11), with a current Year 1 class of 60 children due to the exceptional admission of an additional 15 children in September 2012.  We typically have between 315 - 330 pupils at St Paul’s at any time.

We are blessed to have such a fantastic environment at St Paul’s. Since the school was built in 1969, it has changed quite dramatically to accommodate additional classrooms, play equipment, sports cage and office space but retains its beautiful grounds, with a copse that it well-used and much loved by the children and staff alike!

At St Paul’s we regularly ask parents and children to feedback to us to ensure that we make their time at this school a positive experience.  Below are some comments collected from parents and children in recent times:

“I am blessed to have found this school.”

“Thank you all for shaping my child into a better person – spiritually, academically and psychologically.”

“We love and trust our teachers.”

Our very recent s48 Validation Report (June 2013) notes the following:

“St Paul’s is an example of an outstanding Catholic school community in action. It is guided by universally held Catholic Christian principles and the leadership team, led by the Headteacher, model strong Gospel values. Faith is very clearly central to the life of the school and is evidenced everywhere”
