Job overview

Clerk to the Local Governing Body

Are you organised, methodical, personable and keen to be part of a team who make a difference to children’s lives every day?  We’re looking for a new Clerk to our Local Governing Body who can help us to enhance our professionalism and effectiveness through efficiency, initiative and some inevitable cajoling and personnel management, in order to ensure we fulfil our objectives to support and challenge leaders at all levels to ever greater outcomes.

Applications are invited to join our enthusiastic and dedicated team.  This rewarding and flexible role covers a wide range of responsibilities including administrative tasks, convening and attending meetings, taking minutes, keeping records and coordinating policy document reviews.   Meetings are usually held after school and in the evenings.  There may be an occasional meeting in an afternoon.

Computer skills are necessary.

Knowledge of the clerking process would be an advantage, however training will be given where necessary, including continued support from the Chair of the Local Governors, Principal and our sponsor, the Portsmouth and Winchester Diocesan Academies Trust.   We are most interested in finding someone who is hardworking, reliable, professional and committed to the role.  Portsmouth and Winchester Diocesan Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.  The Trust is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community.

Welcome to this introduction to St. James' CE Academy.

At the heart of everything we do are the children.  The seven years they spend with us is an extremely precious time of enormous growth and change.  We seek to make every opportunity a learning experience and squeeze the value out of every inch of every day.  You will see from much of the content of our website how central the children are and what fantastic ambassadors they are for the younger generation.

Although learning is our core purpose, so is laughter, friendship, challenge, exploration and collaboration.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
