The Governors are looking for a reliable, efficient and effective clerk. This is a vital role in support of the leadership and governance of the school. Previous experience is preferred but not essential. The successful applicant will be required to attend all Full Governing Body There may be occasional times when the clerk is required to attend meetings which are over and above those stated.

There are usually three meetings of the full governing body per year. These are usually held in the evenings and therefore willingness to attend evening meetings is essential. 

Key Requirements:

  • A competent standard of literacy, numeracy and IT skills, especially word processing, email and must have access to relevant equipment for working from home (computer, printer, internet).
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to deal with all matters confidentially.
  • An efficient administrator, able to use your initiative and able to work to the meeting deadlines.
  • Be able to demonstrate a high standard of efficient and accurate record keeping.
  • Be a confident researcher, able to manage information and advice from a variety of sources.
  • Be able to develop good working relationships with the Governing Body, Headteacher and school staff.


Duties of the Clerk:

  • Collating and distributing agendas and associated paperwork in advance of meetings.
  • Maintaining all associated paperwork efficiently.
  • Providing advice and guidance to the Governing Body on governance and procedural matters (full training and support will be provided)


Carry out the statutory requirements of the role, regarding Governing Body membership and compliance with statutory responsibilities for agenda items and website information.
