Clerk to Trust Board & Governance Officer

The Trust consists of 22 schools (secondary colleges and primary) and a Teaching and Learning Institute.  Our schools are in relatively close geographical proximity to one another, across south Devon, Plymouth and south east Cornwall.  We are positioned in the heart of the south west peninsula, a stone’s throw from some of the most picturesque countryside and coastal locations in the UK.

Working as part of WeST’s Core Services Team, this role will support the Company Secretary (Chief Financial Officer) and Clerks of Local Governing Boards in ensuring the effectiveness of corporate governance, and the Chair of the Trust Board and Chairs of Trust Committees with committee administration.


The ideal candidate will have a background in providing governance and high-level administrative support to senior leaders/managers within a highly regulated framework.  You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills along with experience of committee administration/clerking. You will be able to work on your own initiative, think on your feet and thrive in a fast-paced environment.  If you fulfil that criteria but have no previous experience in the education sector we would still like to hear from you.  Full training and development will be provided to the right candidate to progress successfully in this role.


Stakeholder engagement is key and there will be a high level of interaction with internal staff and Trust Board Committee members.
