Are you a conscientious, well-qualified and experienced leader to take the next step in your career through leading the teaching of mathematics across two rapidly improving schools?
If so, we have an opportunity for a highly motivated and creative teacher of mathematics to join an experienced and committed team of subject specialists delivering mathematics courses across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
Both Richard Rose Academies joined United Learning in September 2014 and have undergone a rapid period of improvement as acknowledged by Ofsted as they are now both judged as Good. This key appointment will be a key driver for our future ambitions.
The Academies are based in Carlisle, and are housed within a new building with state-of-the-art facilities. We have a strong team ethos with a focus on excellent teaching and learning. At our heart is quality professional development for all staff and a drive to support our students in their achievement in any way possible.
As Director of Mathematics, you will play a key role in implementing teaching and learning initiatives and strategies throughout both departments, improving teaching practice and raising standards in the subject. Using your expertise, you will ensure improvements are made, acting as a model of excellent practice and developing high quality teaching materials and schemes of learning. You will also be responsible for developing innovative strategies to deliver numeracy across the curriculum in both Academies.
The ideal candidate will have clear mathematical ability and skills to lead, engage, enthuse and challenge learners of all abilities. The candidate should have a strong track record of improving the teaching of mathematics in a range of settings. Excellent subject knowledge and a proven track record of raising attainment by promoting the use of Assessment for Learning (AfL) techniques will be key to the role, as will your experience of coaching and mentoring colleagues, being able to provide honest feedback in a way that nurtures a teacher’s professional capacity, confidence and enthusiasm for personal growth.
In return, we will offer you:
• Two professional, supportive and dynamic mathematics teams;
• A wealth of continuing professional development opportunities both locally and nationally.
• A supportive and inclusive staff environment.
