The Cluster Health & Safety Officer will ensure processes and guidance are followed and available, supporting cluster academies to meet their legal responsibilities in order to protect students, staff, members of the public and other stakeholders on a day to day basis.  The role requires cross-site working and communication and action-based as well as organisational and administrative skills that will support the senior leadership teams, facilities teams and general teaching teams to maintain and ensure a safe working environment for all students and staff.

About You

The successful candidate will hold a portfolio of relevant Health & Safety qualifications and experience as well as a strong understanding of schools in an academy trust context.  An ability to influence and negotiate is key as we aim to further strengthen the role of health and safety in our schools and ensure robust ongoing compliance, and most importantly, tangible safety at all times.

If you feel you are able to proactively work with the academies and the Cluster Facilities Manager to ensure safety and compliance is met, we welcome your application.  You will be expected to lead on maintaining the health and safety in our schools; keeping all aspects up to date in line with United Learning policy and guidance as well as liaising with and seeking guidance from the United Learning Health & Safety Group Manager.

Outstanding interpersonal skills are a must as is an ability to communicate effectively in both the written and verbal form.  This role will also be hands on so get ready to deliver first aid to staff and students as well as manage any potential emergencies efficiently and effectively.

United Learning

Bacon’s College joined United Learning in Spring 2018, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
