Good Samaritan Catholic College is a Prep to Year 12 College located at Bli Bli on the Sunshine Coast.  The College opened in 2019 and is steadily growing towards full enrolment. The first seniors will graduate from the College in 2024. Good Samaritan Catholic College is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic College Chaplain to support the spiritual and social-emotional development of our students. Working closely with the Assistant Principal - Religious Education, the College Chaplain will provide students and staff with social, emotional and spiritual support, provide an additional adult role model in the school and enhance engagement with the broader community, including parents, the parish and the wider community.

The School Chaplain will:
• contribute to and promote the development, alignment, attainment and review of the mission and strategic goals for Brisbane Catholic Education
• work closely with others to promote and develop student wellbeing, emotional resilience, positive relationships and a sense of community
• collaborate with other role holders such as the Campus Minister or APRE in supporting the faith, spiritual and pastoral needs of students
• provide appropriate referrals for students in accordance with school approved protocols and processes
• promote positive partnerships within and beyond the school community

Minimum requirements for applicants for the position of School Chaplain in a Brisbane Catholic Education school:

Qualifications - possession of either:
- a Certificate IV in Youth Work; or a Certificate IV in Pastoral Care; or
- an equivalent qualification; this certificate or equivalent must include a unit of competency in ‘mental health’ and ‘making appropriate referrals’ e.g. CHCCS422B (Respond holistically and refer appropriately) and CHCMH301C (Work effectively in mental health).

As a School Chaplain the successful applicant is recognised:
- by the local school, its community and Brisbane Catholic Education as having the skills, experience and qualifications to deliver school chaplaincy to the school and its community; and
- by the faith-based community through one or more of the following:
formal ordination;
- commissioning;
- recognised religious qualifications; or
- endorsement by a recognised or accepted religious institution.


To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required: 8 hrs/wk - Days of work negotiable

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate: School Officer Level 5

Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement


This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
