College Counsellor

Following an increase in demand, South Thames Colleges Group are now looking for a qualified Counsellor, to complement the existing range of support on offer to students and which will enhance the in-college Counselling service which is offered to all students.

You will provide individual counselling sessions to students, clinically assessing students for suitability to the service and make appropriate referrals for students requiring the intervention of specialist mental health or allied services. You will manage a caseload and waiting list and report to the Head of Student Services, at least termly, those numbers using the service and give a general overview of the types of problems with which users of the service are presenting.

So, if you have excellent spoken and written communication skills and display evidence of appropriate accreditation with a relevant professional body, such as BACP or UKCP, then we would love to hear from you. We’d also like you to have experience of one-to-one counselling, ideally to young people in an educational environment or within CAMHS or another NHS setting.

The role will be based one day a week at Carshalton College and the other day at Merton College. We can be flexible on the days of the week that this is.
