Oxford International College Brighton is an international day and boarding college opening in Ovingdean, Brighton in September 2023 for students aged 13-18. The Role

The role of a College Nurse deals effectively with illnesses or injuries for staff and pupils as well as to promote health and wellbeing for all. The College nurse will use research-based practice in the planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing interventions throughout the whole college.


Continued strategic development of the medical provision is carried out in line with best practice guidelines from the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council), Boarding Schools Association (BSA) and OFSTED. We have a Health Centre at the College, and the Nurse will play a key role in running this.


Qualifications/Training

  • Professional nursing qualification
  • Current training in the medical area


Experience/Knowledge

  • Minimum of 2 years’ nursing experience
  • Capable of attending to both minor and major medical issues
  • Appropriate medical knowledge e.g. Asthma, Epilepsy, Diabetes
  • Managing the safe storage and administration of prescribed medication
  • Management of EpiPens and Ventolin pumps
  • Experience of working with children and adults
  • School working experience

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of care provided
  • Very good standard of oral and written English
  • Organisational and problem-solving skills
