Job overview

This is an incredible opportunity for you to make a difference and join a great team of people within the Head Office of a values-led organisation. Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) is one of the largest not-for-profit multi-academy trusts (MATs) in England. MATs are charities that run schools. We have been around since 2009 which makes us one of the longest established trusts. We are also one of the largest with almost 5,000 staff and 30,000 students.

The Commercial Manager will take a leading role in defining and delivering an end to end commercial business partnering function and be responsible for delivering our commercial strategy which sets out how the procurement of goods and services and subsequent supplier and contract management will be structured and delivered across the Trust. This will involve developing and implementing processes and systems required to deliver procurements, supplier relationship, governance and contract management for all central Trust-wide (i.e. utilities, insurance, waste, etc.) and Academy specific contracts via both OJEU and smaller non-OJEU approved routes to market.

If this sounds like you, and you would like to know more about the role, please contact James Miller, National Director of Estates and Technology on 07584 146431 for an informal discussion.

How to apply

Completed applications together with a covering letter explaining why you are interested in and suitable for the role, should be submitted using Quick Apply or the OAT application form which can be found on the careers page of the Ormiston Academies Trust website by 9.00am on 24th February to recruitment@ormistonacademies.co.uk http://www.ormistonacademiestrust.co.uk/vacancy/safeguarding-and-compliance-manager/.

OAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and the expectation is that all staff will share this commitment. Therefore, the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list check (child) via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

About Ormiston Academies Trust

With over 40 schools – currently 32 secondary schools, six primary schools, three alternative provision schools and one special school across five OAT regions, the trust is one of the largest and longest standing trusts in the school system and is guided by our founder, Peter Murray’s belief that every child deserves the chance to thrive.

We provide pupils with the best learning opportunities in every classroom, in every school, every day. We are also committed to the learning and development that takes place outside of the classroom, and the enriching role that schools and education play in children’s lives.

Our schools are located across a diverse range of communities, each with its own unique character, strengths and challenges. OAT believes in the power of collaboration and working as one team across our schools. This collective approach is underpinned by our core values, which sit at the heart of the work across the trust. It is only through a culture of cohesion and shared endeavour, that we will deliver more for children and families.

There is much to be proud of at OAT, but the trust is not complacent and is committed to improving everything it does. Everyone who works at OAT plays a key role in our journey to both develop and deliver our strategy over the next five years.

We look for people who share our belief in the power of education to change lives for young people, and who have the intellectual, interpersonal and operational capabilities required every day to improve education at scale in a national organisation.

Please note that you are wholly responsible for fact checking in respect of the information provided by schools. Please also check for the latest visa and work permit requirements that may apply.
