This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and media relations focused Communications Manager to play a key role raising the profile of St. Edward’s, locally, nationally and internationally.

You will be joining a Communications Department which is responsible for increasing awareness and understanding of St Edward’s among key audiences, such as current parents, prospective parents, friends of the School, the media and the local community. As Communications Manager (Media Relations), you will be responsible for developing a comprehensive and effective media relations strategy to broaden the reach of the department.

To achieve this, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with the Head of Communications to establish a framework for the generation of regular media coverage
  • Suggesting and creating media opportunities to enhance the standing and influence of the School
  • Drawing up campaign plans in support of specific school developments, incorporating print, broadcast, online and social media 
  • Working with the rest of the Communications team to develop the School’s social media presence
  • Contributing to the school magazine, website and other publications as necessary
  • Planning and delivering flagship events as required

You will need extensive knowledge and understanding of print and digital media as well as experience of working in a marketing or communications role in any sector. You will also be able to work authoritatively and confidently with journalists and the wider media. A watertight grasp of grammar, excellent written English and the ability to juggle a number of projects with conflicting deadlines are equally important.
