The Communications/Marketing Executive is a member of the Communications Team whose purpose is to support the Communications Team in ensuring high calibre communications are created and disseminated across key audience sectors.

You must be a creative, energetic and pro-active individual, happy to help out with all levels of work from database development to inputting ideas into the communications plan.

The successful candidate will be able to work with a variety of staff and be a credible ambassador for the School.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the gathering, creation and editing of news stories for publication on the School website, social media and printed matter
  • Assist with the implementation and development of the School’s Social Media Strategy alongside the Digital and Social Media Producer
  • Assist with the production of printed materials; prospectuses, leaflets, newsletters
  • Assist with preparations for key marketing events including Open Days, working closely with Admissions
  • Manage the coordination of content and setting of digital newsletters
  • Update and maintain entries on online directories and sites such as Mumsnet, Netmums, Good Schools Guide, ISC and source new ones where relevant etc
  • Copywriting new stories for use in online and offline media
  • Create and report on surveys as and when required to gain insights in the viewpoints of key audiences
  • Contribute innovative and new ideas to the Communications Team
  • To assist the Head of Communications
  • Encouraging contributions of news from staff and pupils
  • To work with the Head of Communications and Digital and Social Media Producer to maintain and develop the website
  • Send news to key electronic commercial and educational websites as appropriate
  • To support the Digitial and Social Media Producer to deliver a high end digital online presence, through SEO, Google Analytics analysis, Google my business pages, and social media platforms
  • Help research a content plan for social media development.
  • Regularly review other school’s activity and changes in the schools market
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the School Communication Strategy
  • Support the Communications team and Head of Development to fulfil the remit of the Communications Department to meet the School’s Strategic objectives.
  • Setting up surveys to aid understanding and direction of admissions and communications strategy
  • Assistant in scheduling, planning social media and researching content strategy opportunities
  • Development and management of innovative and creative content campaigns across multiple channels

The successful candidate will be likely to fit the following profile: 

  • Educated to degree level or similar, ideally with a Marketing degree, or CIM (or equivalent qualification)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong IT skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships at all levels
  • An ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good time management with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise as necessary
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
  • A strong creative flair to develop new ideas and contribute to the Communications Plan.  
  • An understanding and appreciation of Independent education
  • Experience of working with a wide range of digital media
  • Excellent copywriting capabilities with the ability to quickly produce high quality work tailored to audiences
  • Awareness of trends and best practice in digital communications and marketing
  • Experience of monitoring, evaluation and analysis in a previous role
  • Experience of CRM systems
  • Experience of multi-channel marketing especially digital
