About the role

Job Title – Computer Science Leader of Learning (Teacher) 

Location – Based in the UK - working remotely from home

Start Date -   22nd August 2023 in readiness for September 2023  

Salary Range – £32,200 - £38, 500 per annum, pro-rated to 0.3 FTE, depending on experience and qualifications You will also receive a 10% uplift for anti-social hours.  

Position: Part time, Permanent Contract. You will be contracted to work 39 weeks of the year, 35 weeks of which are contact time and a further 4 weeks will be directed during non-term time to complete other activities such as course writing, marking, revision sessions etc. The timing of directed weeks/hours will be confirmed via the school calendar and staff will be on leave for the remainder of the holidays. It is expected that staff will work the necessary hours to fulfil their duties and responsibilities. 


Working Hours 

  • 0.3 FTE 
  • Live Teaching is from Monday to Friday  
  • Live Teaching can be between 5am – 1.30pm.  
  • A full-time teacher can be teaching up to 33, 40-minute lessons a week (22 hours of contact time) Remaining time available for preparation, marking, course writing and other school requirements. 
  • An extracurricular activity is mandatory for all teachers moving forward and will take place over two terms.

Our successful candidates will join a talented team providing excellent online educational experiences for our students whose ages range between 8 and 18. The successful candidates will demonstrate expertise and experience of delivering their subject specialism/s and come from either a state school and/or independent school background. Passionate about ensuring the students are at the centre of learning, the successful candidate will be used to deadlines, have experience of creating effective learning resources and having a key focus on the academic monitoring and progress of the students.

About our Roles

Here at Interhigh and Academy21, our Leaders of Learning (Teacher) contracts do differ from mainstream schools due to the nature of our business and ways of operating. As a Leader of Learning (Teacher) you will be contracted to 42 weeks of the year, up to 38 of these weeks are contact weeks with the students, with the remaining weeks being available for additional activity such as course writing.

The school day can run from 8:30am - 5:15pm, Monday to Friday however our Leaders of Learning will not be expected to teach back to back during these times. During the school day there are allocated breaks in the morning, lunch time and in the afternoon, with breaks in between each lesson also.

Our lessons are 40 minutes long which ensures the time spent in the classroom is value added and effective. A full time Leader of Learning could be given a timetable with up to 33 lessons, equating to 22 hours of contact time. Therefore the remaining time up to your contacted 37.5 hours can be utilised for PPA, meetings and any other activities during the week.

As a business and a school, we do not follow the Teachers Mainstream Payscale, we operate in line with our own salary bandings. Further information specifically for each role will be available via the job adverts.
