Job overview

As a member of the Ashcroft team you will;

Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for the specialist subject.

Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students.

Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.

Contribute to the maximizing of student attainment.

Share and support Ashcroft’s responsibility to provide, monitor and assess opportunities for personal, social and academic growth.

Ensure a safe, productive and exciting learning environment

Promote mutual respect and ensure equality of access for all pupils, regardless of culture, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, religion, race, language, social background and family circumstances, preparing them for a life in a diverse society.

Be skilled in using a variety of communications media.

Participate in the pupils Life Skills development programme, Assessing progress made against set Smart Targets.

Be responsible for ensuring pupils are entered for appropriate examinations, liaising with the awarding bodies and phase leader for examinations.

Essential Criteria

Qualified Teacher Status (or gained within the first year with the Trust).

Ability to teach a range of qualifications in main curriculum area such as L1/2, GCSE, BTEC.

The ability to differentiate in an innovative and creative manner.

The ability to think on your feet and be flexible in your approach.

A strong ability to ‘see the bigger picture’ and demonstrate good understanding of how your work adds to the whole.

Excellent customer service skills.

Outstanding communication skills, including written and verbal interpersonal skills.

Ashcroft is an independent day school and college is based in Stockport, Cheshire and in East Manchester. It’s one of the specialist education services provided by the charity the Together Trust. We cater for children and young people aged 8 to 19 years who have struggled to cope in other settings because of their individual barriers to learning. At Ashcroft we pride ourselves in working with each student offering a bespoke education package that really does meet their needs. We cater for pupils with complex emotional needs including ADHD and brain injuries.
