Job overview

Queen’s Gate is a thriving GSA day school for girls aged 4 –18 and is ideally situated in Central London to take advantage of the many educational opportunities on offer. Our School is well-resourced with class sets of iPads, laptops and also a Computer suite.

We require from January/February 2021, a well-qualified and confident classroom practitioner who is able to instil a passion for programming and Computer Science in our Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 pupils. The position is temporary from January/February 2021 to cover maternity leave.

Candidates should have a sound understanding of programming concepts, problem-solving and computer architecture. They should have knowledge of at least one programming language; we are currently using Visual Basic and Python in our Key Stage 3 lessons alongside block-based languages and HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

The ability to teach Computer Science theory at Key Stage 4 would be desirable as Computer Science is a popular option at GCSE. At Key Stage 4, students follow the CIE IGCSE Computer Science (9-1) course.

The successful candidate will also be expected to play a part in the life of the School, including involvement in pastoral responsibilities and extra-curricular clubs/activities.

An application form and further details may be downloaded from our website www.queensgate.org.uk/about-us/employment-opportunities . When completed the application form should be sent by email to recruitment@queensgate.org.uk  together with a covering letter to the Principal, to arrive no later than Monday, 7th December 2020.

Queen’s Gate is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo enhanced DBS checks and have references taken up with previous employers.
