The Prospect Trust is a leading Multi-Academy Trust in the South of England, with an aim of providing outstanding education for all learners within a family of local academies. There are currently three academies within the Trust: The Sixth Form College Farnborough, Tomlinscote School and Frimley Church of England Junior School.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Computing Department within an outstanding Secondary School. We are seeking a proactive individual to provide an excellent level of support to students in the School.

The area of Computer Science at Tomlinscote School is a very popular subject at KS4 with a large take up at GCSE. We are looking for a teacher who is willing and able to grow within the Department as well as maintaining high standards of teaching. As a Computing Teacher,, you will need to be dynamic and be able to motivate the students. The ideal candidate will be highly knowledgeable, creative, and passionate about computing & IT and will be expected to lead, develop, and implement teaching and learning strategies to raise achievements for the Faculty.

The school is well equipped with 2 modern IT rooms with desktop computers and printers. There is strong IT support team who will support you to make sure that your equipment is fully functional to deliver quality lessons throughout the day.

At Key Stage 3, we offer pupils an innovative and exciting syllabus following the computing framework. At Key Stage 4 we offer GCSE Computing and BTEC Level 2 in IT, for which popularity has grown over the past few years. We currently have five computing and two IT classes, in KS4.

We are looking for a teacher who displays the following characteristics:

  • A thoughtful and self-reflective approach to pedagogy;
  • A desire to be an outstanding classroom practitioner
  • A passion for the subject;
  • Excellent ICT skills that makes learning visible in the classroom
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a desire to build on this; and an
  • Enthusiasm for working with 11-16 year old students.


The School

Tomlinscote is a highly successful, over-subscribed, mixed comprehensive school of approximately 1500 students. Our staff enjoy working here because our standards, facilities and staff well-being are excellent.

Our students are a pleasure to teach and make excellent progress as shown by the positive examination data. All Tomlinscote students and teaching staff have their own iPad to enhance learning inside or outside of the classroom. 

As a new member of staff you will receive plenty of support from your colleagues both from the department and from the wider school community. This will include:

  • a mentor to help you through the first year
  • support from your line manager and department; and
  • ECT status through The Xavier Hub and Teach First


We also expect staff to undertake a pastoral role as a form tutor. There are also opportunities to get involved in the wider life of the school through trips and extracurricular activities and we will develop every staff member that joins our team, providing one-to-one support, coaching and mentoring and access to extensive professional development.

Any applicant should hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree to be considered for this post. ECTs are welcome to apply.

Start Date: January / April 2023

Salary: London Fringe Pay

Contract/Hours: 1.0 FTE, Monday - Friday, Term Time Only
