Chesterfield College is delighted to introduce a new and exciting opportunity for a high calibre enthusiastic Construction graduate. The applicant for this scheme needs to have significant expertise in advanced construction and needs to bring a vision of how they can enhance our current curriculum offer to meet the future needs of local employers. 


The successful candidate should be interested in working in the further education sector and be passionate about passing on their knowledge, understanding and skills to both students and staff.


The successful candidate will be provided an opportunity to access on-the-job teaching experience which will provide them the best opportunity to gain teaching skills quickly.  They will receive a full induction familiarising them with the wider aspects of the college and will undertake a formal teaching qualification, with tuition fees being met as part of the programme. 


The successful candidate will utilise a reduction in standard teaching hours to collaborate with existing teachers and introduce them to emerging technologies studied during their degree. They will also have the opportunity to develop these emerging technologies into new facilities/curriculum for the college to deliver in its 2020/21 curriculum offer.


This vacancy is funded as part of the Department for Education’s Taking Teaching Further programme managed by the Education and Training Foundation.

This post is supported by Taking Teaching Further funding that will cover extra hours of intensive support, a reduced teaching workload and a 2 year teaching qualification. The successful candidate will benefit from a wide range of professional development experiences including:

• Shadowing expert practitioners

• Gain a level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE)

• Gain industrial experience and placement with our current industry links

• Working in classroom based provision

• Influence the vision of the area, the curriculum planning and future design of the construction courses

• Inspire our future construction workers
