Job overview

We wish to appoint an additional consultant senior leader or principal/headteacher to strengthen our team, as our five schools approach maturity and their full intakes and age-ranges.

Senior staff in these posts often fulfil the role of Lead Adviser to a single school as well as taking a number of cross-trust management roles within the wider team. The role of lead adviser is central to the operation of the trust in advising the Headteacher, the chair of local governors and representing the CEO and other trust staff within the assigned school

We seek a colleague who is also prepared, on occasion, to work in our schools as a step-in senior leader to give capacity to and develop the local senior leadership team. These assignments are for limited time periods and may be part-time, to give our schools temporary extra capacity, while enabling the post holder to continue to work on their cross-trust responsibilities.

Please note:

  • Whole school advisers are required to split their time between RET headquarters in Leatherhead and schools.
  • Travel – often driving – is required (expenses paid).
  • Some evening attendance at Local Governing Body meetings is also required.
  • Step-in senior leader posts, if full time, are only required if within reasonable driving distance of a candidate’s home.

How to Apply:

Please complete the application form attached including a full career history and a letter of no more than 2 sides A4, explaining how you fit the person specification. This should be addressed to Colin Mackinlay, CEO and sent to: Russell Education Trust, 1 The Crescent, Leatherhead, Surrey KT22 8DY.

If you wish to talk to Colin before applying, this is welcomed.

Thank you again for taking an interest in RET.

Closing date: Midday on 14th October 2019

Interview date: Week commencing 21st October 2019
