The role

The Raspberry Pi Foundation’s mission is to put the power of digital making into the hands of people all over the world. It’s a deliberately bold statement of our intent. Since launching our first product in February 2012, we have sold over 14 million Raspberry Pi computers and helped kickstart a global movement to get more people involved in computing and digital making. We’ve trained thousands of teachers and engaged hundreds of thousands of young people in our educational programmes, including our network of over 10,000 Code Clubs. Our free educational resources are used by millions of people every year. We are also working hard at building our profile and expanding our reach into new audiences of potential digital makers.

We’re looking for a Content and Curriculum Manager to join a team of passionate people to help advance the mission of the Raspberry Pi Foundation.

You’ll be responsible for developing content and curriculum to help people learn about digital making and computing. This will include authoring new content, testing and reviewing its effectiveness, and adding to our online curriculum. You will also be helping to support our online and face-to-face teacher-training initiatives through delivering training sessions and engaging with educators before, during, and after the training.

We are looking for someone who has experience in writing educational resources to teach young people how to make with technology, including how to program in both visual and text-based languages, and how to build projects with electronics. We do a lot of our work online, so you should be effective in an electronic environment.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a unique place to work, with a fantastic team and positive work culture, so we are also looking for the right personality to fit in with the organisation.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop educational projects, tutorials, videos, and curriculum that help people learn about digital making and computing
  • Collaborate with colleagues and users on project pedagogy and outcomes to ensure a high standard of learning materials
  • Proofread and fact-check resources to ensure that technical information is accurate, up to date, and appropriate to the audience
  • Maintain high quality online learning materials for hardware, software, and electronics including user documentation, quick reference guides, learning resources, and some content in other languages
  • Ensure user experience is of a high standard by gathering feedback from a range of sources, and use feedback to drive improvements in content
  • Respond to and help resolve technical feedback through GitHub
  • Use analytics and report insights about usage
  • Support the development and delivery of both our online and face-to-face teacher training programmes
  • Represent The Raspberry Pi Foundation to external audiences, including writing blog posts and magazine articles, attending outreach events, giving talks, and leading workshops

Experience and personal attributes

You should be:

  • Passionate about technology, education, and digital making, and familiar with the ecosystems and communities that surround these fields
  • Experienced in writing and developing educational materials within a curriculum
  • Equipped with a high level of literacy in English including excellent spelling and grammar
  • Willing to travel, with the skills to organise travel plans
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

You will ideally have:

  • At least three years of experience working in education, or for an educational organisation, or in the voluntary sector
  • An understanding of education and education policy in computing or STEM
  • Experience of creating content for online video
  • Experience of working with online collaboration tools such as Google Docs and GitHub

Timetable for applications

Closing date: 0900 GMT Monday 2 October 2017

Face-to-face interviews: Week beginning 9 October 2017

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a UK-based educational charity that  works to put the power of computing and digital making into the hands of  people all over the world. We want more people to be able to harness  the power of computing and digital technologies for work, to solve  problems that matter to them, and to express themselves creatively.

Established  in 2008 and first known for our product – the wildly successful  Raspberry Pi computer – the Foundation has developed educational content  and programmes that are helping millions of people learn computing and  digital making.

In October 2015, we merged with Code Club,  followed in May 2017 by a second merger with the CoderDojo Foundation.  Together we now represent one of the largest, sustained global efforts  to help young people learn computing and digital making. You can read  more about our mission, values and goals in our 2018-2020 strategy

We  strive to make the Foundation a place where talented people who care  about our mission can do the best work of their careers. We have a  flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If  you’re the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you, and you  can be confident that you’d be working with an exceptional team.
