Course Team Leader of A Level Politics

Long Road Sixth Form CollegeCambridgeshire

Situated close to the centre of Cambridge and on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Long Road is a popular and successful Sixth Form College with 2,300 16-19 year old full-time students. Long Road was judged by OFSTED to be Good all five categories, and we are now taking the next steps to become an Outstanding College.

If you are a passionate, ambitious teacher with a degree in politics or a closely related subject and eager for a new challenge, we would like to hear from you.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed professional to lead our A Level Politics course and provide a dynamic, engaging and highly successful learning experience for our students. We welcome applications from experienced and newly qualified teachers. The ability to teach another subject would be an advantage but not essential.

As A Level Politics Lead, you will join our thriving Social Sciences Department which has a long tradition of offering a fantastic range of opportunities for students to meet and debate with prominent politicians and political thinkers, pressure group representatives, local MPs, councillors and others. We are keen to ensure that this tradition continues and will provide all the support you need to enable our A Level Politics students (and the wider college community) to witness the practical application of the subject beyond the classroom.

Within the College there is a genuine and shared commitment to on-going professional development and we offer a supportive environment in which to further develop your career. We are proud of the work we do to develop students in their time in post 16 education, both in the success of their studies, their progression and in their attitude to studying and developing as young individuals.

If you are passionate about teaching and learning, share our enthusiasm for Politics and are seeking to develop your practice in a supportive and dynamic faculty, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The salary ranges from £24,765 to £40,418 (pro rata), plus annual CTL Allowance Band 2 (£2,674). This role will commence in April 2021, however, a later start date can be negotiated for the ideal candidate.

To apply, please complete an application form and supporting statement and return it by email to: jobs@longroad.ac.uk We do not accept CVs. In light of the current situation with COVID 19, interviews and assessments will be conducted remotely.

Closing date: Midday on 19 January 2021.

Interview date: 27 January 2021.

Long Road Sixth Form College is committed to the promotion of equality and the elimination of discrimination. We welcome applications from all members of the community.
