The Role

Due to the continuing growth of the school, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to manage the daily planning activities of the Cover Department, assigning cover in the mornings, and supervising whole classes during the short-term and long-term absence of teachers. The post holder will also line-manage the Cover Supervisor team and to secure supply staff as/when required. 

Paxman Academy opened to Year 7 students in September 2019 and is a co-educational, fully comprehensive 11-16 Academy with a PAN of 180. It is a heavily oversubscribed school which is held in high regard in the community.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

● Organise required cover for absent teaching staff on a daily basis, including arranging for supply staff from agencies when required and ensuring a process for meeting and greeting supply teachers, providing them with adequate support/training on the day.

● Provide monthly return paperwork for supply staff costing.

● Plan large cover events (Rewards trips, drop down days, meetings etc.)

● Produce and arrange distribution of the daily cover sheet.

● With line manager, review and make recommendations for change to the school’s Cover Policy, including quality assurance of cover work provided and raising issues with appropriate Faculty/Subject Leads.

● Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities, health and safety, security, confidentiality and GDPR, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.

We're looking for you if you have :

● A good standard of education (ideally Maths/English GCSE grade A* to C or equivalent);

● Experience of working in a school environment or in a supervisory role with young people will be an advantage;

● A commitment to high standards of achievement from students and yourself;

● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to act on your own initiative as well as work well with others

Paxman Academy is a newly built, co-educational, fully comprehensive 11-16 academy, which opened its doors in September 2019. In its first two years of opening, the Academy has been a popular choice and is heavily oversubscribed.
