EdStart opened its first Independent Specialist School in South Manchester in September 2010, and now operates across multiple sites throughout the North West. Our primary function is Alternative Provision, serving the region’s schools and young people by developing a suitable environment and curriculum to match their varying needs.  

Our DfE registered centres are all equipped with classrooms, ICT facilities, Smart and interactive white boards, and private one to one mentoring rooms. Facilities for cooking and art are also features of our centres. As well as creating a suitable learning environment, our centres are pupil friendly with activities available to engage pupils during break times.

In September 2018, our newest centre in Bury opened to pupils. The new site is based in the centre of Bury which make it easily accessible to both pupils and staff. We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable and committed person to cover classes across the 13-16 age range. The role will suit either a Qualified/Unqualified Teacher or a Graduate and we welcome candidates with the capacity to inspire and motivate students. In addition, it would suit an individual who is considering embarking on a teacher training route further down the line, Edstart can offer the opportunity to complete a PGCE in Lifelong Learning.

The successful candidate will:

· Be degree qualified 

· Possess some experience of an educational environment and/or working with secondary school age pupils in some capacity

· Excellent communication skills, ability to build rapport with secondary school-age students

Its primary function is Alternative Provision, serving the regions schools and young people by developing a suitable environment and curriculum to match their varying needs. Graded 'Good' by Ofsted (March 2019), staff are now hard at work working towards achieving an 'Outstanding' school. With various academic and vocational qualifications being offered our aim is to re-engage young people, creating opportunities which lead to reintegration to school, further education or employment. Each pupil receives an individual learning plan and is supported throughout the programme by our highly skilled teachers, learning mentors and youth workers.
