Job overview

Required as soon as possible, a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work cohesively with the cover team to provide consistency in the teaching of the curriculum. 

In this role you will be working with the Cover Manager, in a valued team of support staff.  

We’d like to hear from you if you are able to: 

  • have experience of working with young people (this is essential);
  • deliver a variable timetable of already planned lessons and prepared teaching tasks across classes in different year groups and abilities; 
  • maintain good classroom behaviour of students and keep them on task; 
  • be both adaptable and confident.

This post is part time (30 hours per week) during term time and non-pupil days (39 weeks per year).

CCHS is a large, popular and inclusive 11-19 comprehensive school that sits in the heart of our community. We operate across two sites, with colleagues teaching both at Walton Road (11-16) and our sixth form college (16-19), Sigma Sixth, based at the Tendring Education Centre.

Many of our students continue their post-16 studies at Sigma Sixth, our college. The college has around 400 enrollments and is large enough to have a genuine college feel but small enough to ensure that every student is known as an individual. There are over 30 subjects on offer to cater for the interests and aspirations of all students alongside a great enrichment programme.  The Sigma Sixth experience is designed to allow our students to self-discover where they want to go and what they want to be, they are the architects of their own futures.  The Sigma Sixth tagline of ‘Discover Yourself, Define Your Future’ reflects the entire ethos of our commitment to our students. Every year we continue to be amazed and inspired by the careers and University destinations of our college students.

At both CCHS and Sigma Sixth, we believe that our staff are the most important resource we have to deliver a holistic education. Quite simply we believe that the more skilled and expert our staff are, the more effectively they can educate our students.
