Job overview

Are you an undergraduate considering teaching in the future? Are you keen to work with our students and support us in delivering a first-class education? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

The Leigh UTC and Inspiration Academy has an exciting opportunity to appoint a Cover Supervisor who will make a real impact to our students' learning. It is an amazing opportunity and a great way of having a clear understanding of a school’s day to day operation if you are interested in undertaking ‘Teacher Training’ in the near future. A cover supervisor’s role allows you to explore a range of subjects within a school which further enhances one’s opportunities. Our successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision of whole classes during short-term absence of teachers, providing instructions for a lesson as provided for by a teacher. The cover supervisor will ensure the good behaviour of the students and make sure the students engage in the learning activity. The ability to build strong and effective working relationships is essential for this role, so if you feel you meet the criteria – we’d love to hear from you! Training will be provided for the post-holder and if there are certain subject areas of preference to you and your skill-set, we would do our best to adhere to this.

Knowledge, experience and training:

  • Experience of working with students of the relevant age.
  • Competence in the use of ICT to support teaching and learning.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and within a team.

When not required to cover lessons, you will be deployed to provide general assistance, for example to support individuals or groups with particular learning needs and undertake exam invigilation as required.

This is a permanent opportunity offering an actual salary of £21,573 per annum (£25,082 full time equivalent) based on 37 hours per week, Term Time + 1 week inset. Please be aware that the academy can also consider applications from those seeking a part-time opportunity (a minimum of 2 days per week, Wednesdays mandatory).

If you have any questions in regards to the role and the basis, please contact Holly Neve (Recruitment Coordinator) on holly.neve@latrust.org.uk or 01634 412 263.

At The Leigh UTC, we create opportunities for meaningful collaboration for staff, we provide a respectful working environment and we encourage innovation from every member of our team. Our Principal, Governors, teaching and support staff believe wholeheartedly in creating opportunities for lifelong success for our young people and believe that exam success is just one aspect in achieving this. We deliver amazing experiences for students whilst not compromising on outcomes. Our teamwork allows us to be greater than the sum of our parts - join us to achieve more than you thought possible.

Curriculum is king and we do things a little differently to other schools or colleges because we believe the most effective way to educate our students is to make our learning more hands-on. With the International Baccalaureate Middle Years programme (MYP) at KS3, GCSEs at KS4, and A-levels, T-levels and the International Baccalaureate Careers Programme (IBCP) at KS5, our ambitious curriculum offer caters for choice, leading the vast majority of students into STEM-related careers or courses.
