The Nobel School is a very exciting and vibrant school with 1440 on roll, covering the full age and ability range, the majority of whom continue their education into our flourishing Sixth Form. The recent rebuilding programme means that we have a ‘state of the art’ £38 million 21st century school. Nobel has a strong local reputation and has been significantly over subscribed for many years. All visitors to Nobel comment on the unique atmosphere and strong positive relationships between staff and students. Furthermore, our recent Ofsted report confirmed that the school is now good in all categories; this is an exciting time to join our school as we push to be outstanding.

We seek an enthusiastic and flexible person to join our cover team to supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. Applicants need to be confident, able to build supportive relationships with students aged between 11-18 and demonstrate effective practice and approaches to learning. Some experience of working with adolescents is desirable. Flexibility in hours will be needed. This may sometimes involve a 7:30am start as the post holder will be required to step in to cover the duties of the Cover Co-ordinator if she is absent. Training for this will be given. Normal duties will involve explaining work, supervision and registration cover; planning and marking is not required. A good standard of ICT, oral and written communication skills is essential.

Nobel School is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all of its students and staff. The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post and will be subject to satisfactory recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.

You can get further information from our website but we strongly advise you to contact us to arrange an informal visit – you won’t regret it! To arrange a pre-visit, or for additional information, please contact Chantal Coakes, Head’s PA (

The closing date for applications is 11:59pm, Sunday 4 December 2016. Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible as the school reserves the right to close the advert should we feel able to appoint an appropriate candidate, otherwise the interview date shall be Friday 9 December 2016. If you wish to apply, please complete an application form together with a letter of application (no longer than two sides of A4 (Arial, font 11)). In your letter you should address: Your vision and values relating to the post and why you want to join the Nobel community. All applications should be made through the relevant recruitment website preferably, or may be sent electronically to

Please note that we do not accept CVs in place of application forms.
